CEI/Planets Training Event Bursary: Apply Now

Planets has joined forces with The Central European Initiative (CEI) to award 15 training bursaries to attend the second Planets Training Event at the Arena di Serdica hotel, Sofia, on 16-18 September 2009.

These bursaries with a total value of almost E9000 support CEI’s work in 18 Central and Eastern European member states to promote the use of digital technologies to support economic and social development in Central and Eastern Europe and to preserve the growing digital cultural and scientific heritage. Participants from nine countries will be eligible to apply to the bursary scheme.

Uniquely, this event – the only Planets training event to be held in South-Eastern Europe – will equip staff engaged in, or about to engage in, work to preserve digital collections with the knowledge and practical skills to initiate or advance work in their organisation.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from European experts engaged in the field of digital preservation and the researchers and developers of Planets technology, and will hear how two organisations in the region are tackling long-term management of digital content. Attendees will receive certificates for continuing professional development.

What will the bursaries cover?

The bursaries each worth up to EUR590 will enable staff such as librarians, archivists, curators, IT, project managers and others who create and preserve or have a need to preserve, digital collections in eligible countries to attend the full three-day event or the first day alone.
